Our Bluestone pavers are all volcanic stones that have formed and hardened over millions of years. Bluestone pavers are extremely dense and hardwearing, enabling this natural stone to be used in the most rigorous applications.
Our natural bluestone pavers are available in a huge variety of sizes, formats and surface textures, offering a high level of paver customisation including an extensive range of pool coping bullnose, square edge and rebated units.
Think an organic bluestone stepper for the pathway to allow planting between the stones, a sawn surface paver externally to ensure a non-slip finish, and then carry through the same size internally in a honed finish bluestone tile, ending in a soft feel underfoot. Bluestone is also available in cobblestones, perfect for path and driveway applications, crazy paving, traditional format wall cladding and more.
Perfect for the smallest city terrace or courtyard design to the most sophisticated large-scale commercial build. Explore the bluestone image gallery for examples of how our bluestone pavers, tiles and cobblestones have been used in a diverse selection of architectural and landscape designs.
What is Bluestone?
Bluestone is not a geological term but a popular name given to a particular type of Basalt, characterized by its blue/grey colour tone. A key characteristic of bluestone is the naturally occurring cat paws. These are formed from gas extrusions when the stone was formed millions of years ago. Most orders of bluestone will see this prominent in 15-25% of their batch.

Style, Form & Function
Inner-city courtyard defies tight confines for luxury design
It is these characteristics that ensure this space is a unique one; one that perhaps, pool aside, would not be out of place indoors. This integration of disciplines ensures that the client’s lifestyle has not been inhibited by the tight confines of this inner-city courtyard. The narrow space provided a challenge to Out From The Blue in that the client’s brief was to essentially extend the living area at the rear of the house whilst incorporating a family pool that did not compromise on style, form or function. The design can be broken down into four areas over two levels; the BBQ area at the rear of the house, the pool, the pool lounge and at the very rear of the property a service area and bathroom. While many different elements, materials and functions are incorporated into the space, the design ensures that a sense of openness has not been compromised in any way. Through the merging of landscape, architecture and interior design, the specific functional requirements of the client’s brief have been met in a space that is uniquely styled and aesthetically striking.
