Nestled in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs the design brief for Entrenches Landscapes for this project was to create a functional outdoor space for a growing and active family. In keeping with the desired coastal home aesthetic, the design needed to bring both function and charm to the outside space that would work seamlessly with the home’s architecture.
High retaining walls were clad in Coolum Random Ashlar walling to provide texture and enhance the feeling of space around the garden while top plating and climbers continue to add depth and texture. A long, modern rectangular pool was built down one side, leading directly off the back of the house and fenced with clear glass panels again to add to the feeling of open space.
The Capri travertine pool coping continues through in a modular pattern as the flooring for the entertaining area off the back of the house, as well as forming a path that runs the length of the property. The large turf area was necessary for games of cricket and soccer, and the pared back, modern planting scheme adds a pop of colour and freshness to the design, completing the beach essence of the home.
The end result is a charming, beautifully designed family space that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.
